How to add Google Custom Search in Blogger




Hello Readers, in this post we will learn how to set up a Google Custom Search for your Blog. We all know Google is one of the top search engines around and it is the main source of organic traffic to almost every blog on the web. If you are not familiar with the term Organic traffic, let me tell you in short the traffic driven towards your blog from the search engines is known as organic traffic. But why is it important to add a Google custom search bar to your Blog? We will find out the answer later in this post.

You might have seen many default templates by blogger having search buttons in them. But they do not show up relevant results based upon the queries. You best bet is to set up a Google custom search bar to your blog for better and relevant results.

Importance of Google Custom Search

If you use this Google custom search in your blog you will be benefited to a great extend. By using Google custom search the search results displayed will be relevant and include the results from your blog. Along with that it will help you increasing your page views and impressions. Page views and Impressions are the terms that are closely related to the ads network. Some ads network like Adsense and Qadabra have included CPM in their payment models. CPM means cost per mille that means they pay you a certain amount for every 1000 impressions. You can also connect your adsense account with the Google custom search, whenever a user clicks an ad displayed along with your search results; you earn money. So you can easily boost your earnings by adding this.

How to set up a Google custom search

Well it’s not that hard, you need not to be a rocket scientist for this. Follow these steps:
First of all go to Google custom search.

  • Now click on new Search and enter the details as shown below.

  • Now under the edit search, enter the search engine name and keywords for your blog as shown below.

  • Once you are done with this, you can customize the look and feel, the colors, layout by clicking the look and feel.

  • Now click on save and get code.
  • Copy the code and go to you blogger account. Click on layout from your dash board. Add a HTML/JavaScript gadget and paste the code in it.
  • Save and view blog it will look like the one below.

  3. Doesn't seem to work for me on Blogspot. I've done it on two other Wordpress self installs but Blogspot produces no search results. And teh search widget is a complete fail, also.

    but sir i dont know, what to put under "enter few keywords here".
    I can write as many separated by ","(comma)???

    1. You can add keywords separated by commas in the meta keyword tag. Do not add many keywords as it will hurt your site SEO. Add 5-7 closely related keywords to it..
