Blogger custom domain easy DNS settings for Godaddy




Hello friends, in this post we will learn an easy process to setup a custom domain name for blogger or blogspot blog using purchased using Godaddy. Unziptech has already posted about why you should choose a custom domain name for your blogger blog. Godaddy is now an official partner of Google blogger for domain names. You can purchase a custom domain name from Godaddy using your blogger dashboard. You can also go directly to Godaddy’s website for the same. Google and Godaddy have teamed up and made it easy for users to redirect their blogger blog to the domain hosted on Godaddy. Later in this post we will see the extremely easy redirection and verification process for Blogger-Godaddy.

As we know it was very hard and there were a lot of settings that a user needed to do while moving on to a custom domain name. But after Godaddy and Google teamed up they have made it convenient for their users to undergo this redirection and verification process. You just need to click on a simple button to do all the CName, AName/Records settings, isn’t it simple. Let us see the redirection process first which includes the CName and A-records settings and then we will talk about the verification process.

Pre requisite:

  • A Blog hosted on blogger.
  • A domain hosted on Godaddy.

Custom Domain Setup Process:

  • First of all, Login in to both Godaddy and Blogger account.
  • Go to Godaddy domain setup tool.
  • It will open a window like this:

  • Put in your blog address and click on OK button (Make sure you are logged in Godaddy account, otherwise you need to login again).
  • It will setup the C-Name and A-records for you automatically and you need not to do these settings manually.

Now that you are done with the C-Name and A-records settings; you need to do a little verification.

  • Stay Logged in to both Blogger and Godaddy account.
  • Navigate to the Settings tab from your Blogger dashboard.
  • Now under the publishing option enter your custom domain.
  • Make sure you click the check-box underneath it, to redirect the non-www url to www url of your blog.
  • If it asks you for verification choose “verify using google webmasters”.
  • It will automatically add a verification token into your Godaddy account.
  • You are done with this process.

  1. Just a question, which blog address you entered? Is it the one you bought from Godaddy or the one from Blogger?

  2. Hello Zafar, there's no check box underneath for a non-url on blogger...

    Now, I haven't been able to solve this issue...
    My non-url domain ex. mysite.com is not redirecting to www.mysite.com

    If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated... :)

    There is a check box for the same in your blogger dashboard. Navigate to Setting>Basic>Publishing, fill in your blog address and custom domain and check the check-box..
