Hello Readers, in this post you will learn how to troubleshoot the Feedburner's Feed which is not updating. Feedburner is the most used feeds management service around and is powered by Google. It is a great source of traffic and you build a loyal audience using feedburner feeds. Feedburner is one the most useful tools for blogging nowadays. But what if your feeds are not updating and the poeple who have subscribed to your feeds are not getting updates about your latest posts. This is the most common problem every blogger face. But there are fixes for this problem as well and we will explore these fixes later in this article.

Fix feedburner feeds

About one month ago I faced the same problem. I found that my feeds are not updating on Technorati, one of the best blog submission directories. Then i logged into my Feedburner's account, found the problem and fixed it with the tools given by feedburner. Now i am sharing my experience so that if you face any problem like this you don't have to wait and search for the fixes. It is a three step process:
1) Identify the problem.
2) Try the fixes
3) Resync the Feeds
You should also check out how to add a custom feedburner email subscription widget to your blog.
Now let us see what you can do, if you face such problems with your feedburner's feed.

Identify the problem:

First of all log in to your Feedburner's account and on the very first page you will see a link to monitor the health of your feeds. It looks like the one shown below:
monitor feedburner feeds health

Click on the link and check if there are some error messages or not. You can get useful information on that screen regarding the problem. The most common error is that your feedburner's feed size exceeds 512K which is the limit for your feeds. If thats the case you need to reduce the feeds size.

Fixes:

1) The first fix that you should try is to ping fedburner for the latest feeds of your blog. It is done automatically after 30 minutes you post a new article on your blog. But in this case we will do it manually. Go to the troubleshootize tab in your feedburner account. Click on the pinging feedburner it will take you to the page shown below:
ping feedburner feeds

Enter your feedburner url, click on ping and you are done. Check if this fix worked for you or not.
2) If the first fix does not work for you, you may check the validity of your feeds. Click on the Feedburner Feed validity from the troubleshootize tab. Check if there are some errors, try to fix them.
3) If you are facing problem with your feeds because you exceeded the feed size, then you need to reduce the size of your feeds. The max limit for feeds is 512K. Click on edit feed details; now in the original feeds field add the number of posts that you want to show in your feeds just like below:
feedburner 512KB error fix

http://YOUR-FEED-ADDRESS?max-results=5, 5 is the number of posts you want to show in your feeds. It varies from blog to blog according to the size of your blog posts. It will surely fix your problem if you exceeded the feeds size.

Resync the Feeds:

Resync feedburner feeds
It is the last thing that you can do to fix your feedburner feeds errors. Click on Resync button on the troubleshootize page and wait it to do the magic for you. It clears the previous cache and refreshes the content of the feeds. It will surely fix all the issues with your feeds.
